Terms of use

Who we are. Desktop Steward is made by ED&EU LTD, registered in Scotland (SC866978), hello@desktopsteward.com. Desktop Steward is not affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI; Claude and ChatGPT are their trademarks.
What you get for free. The extension for Claude Desktop and the Desktop Steward app are free to use on your own computers. The core is open source under the MIT licence (github.com/desktopsteward/desktop-steward); the official bundles and the app contain additional closed parts that you may use but not resell or redistribute.
Pro. Remote access (using your computer from Claude on the web or phone, or from ChatGPT, through our relay) is part of Desktop Steward Pro: 7 days free on every computer, then a monthly subscription for up to 3 computers per licence. Prices are shown at checkout; payments are processed by Stripe, which is the merchant of record and handles VAT. You can cancel any time from the customer portal; access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds for the current month are given on request within 14 days of a charge if you contact hello@desktopsteward.com.
Your computer, your responsibility. Desktop Steward does what your AI assistant asks within the folders and rules you set. Confirmation windows and undo reduce mistakes but do not make them impossible. Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, and do not open folders you would not hand to a stranger.
Acceptable use. Do not use Desktop Steward or the relay to access computers you are not authorised to use, to bypass someone else's security, or to break the law. We may suspend relay access that is abusive or that overloads the service.
The relay. We run the relay on a best-effort basis and may change or discontinue it with reasonable notice; the local features keep working without it. The relay passes requests through and stores no file contents (see Privacy).
No warranty, limited liability. The software is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, ED&EU LTD is not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect damages arising from the use of Desktop Steward; our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of Scotland, which governs these terms.
Changes. We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do, and material changes are announced on this site. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
