Install in three steps

Double-click the downloaded file

Claude Desktop opens and shows what the extension can do. If it does not open, drag the file into the Claude Desktop window.

Press Save

You do not need to fill anything in. The defaults are: read Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures; change files only in Documents/AI Workspace and Downloads.

Start a new chat

Try “Show me the Desktop Steward rules” or open the + menu → Connectors → Add from Desktop Steward for ready-made tasks.

Uninstall

Claude Desktop → Settings → Extensions → Desktop Steward → Uninstall. Kept copies for undo live in ~/.desktop-steward; delete that folder if you want nothing left behind.
